PLN & Education

Community communications go beyond blogs and social media shares, how does a PLN help and hinder the development of thoughts and ideas in education discourse?

I believe people have different ways of learning and a personal learning network allows students and instructors to build their own ways of learning. Therefore, a personal learning network helps the development of thoughts in education from various platforms. However, students can be misled by unauthorized information.

How do educators create discourse?

Educators usually create discourse based on past learning experiences and research from their educational backgrounds. For instance, many educators post notetaking and memory methods on public networks to help learners study more efficiently. Recently, I learned about the well-known Cornell notetaking method from many educators’ social media shares.

What is the role of social media in education?

Social media has played an important role in education since the COVID-19 pandemic because all students and instructors transformed from face-to-face lectures to online learning. Social media helps students communicate with their professors. On the other hand, social media is the most important tool to communicate with students for group projects and making friends, which can help each other achieve a higher letter grades.

Which social media platforms are beneficial in education?

I enjoyed reading through your blog post for this week! I agreed with you that COIVD really transformed the way we communicate with our professors and fellow peers even now that school isn’t fully online. We continue to use the strategies that we learned while online. Personally, I think it’s because we were able to connect easier and build better connections online than we originally thought for example building online study groups.
